Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM)
Class Description:
Critical Incident Stress Management is the focus of this two-day dispatch/police/fire/EMS seminar/retreat. This class will develop skills in personnel interested in implementing or being part of a peer counseling or critical incident stress team. This class can tailored to Police, Fire, EMS or a multi-disciplinary team.
Topics include:
- What are the dynamics of the public safety work environment
- Learn to use effective intervention support tools
- Learn to recognize stress symptoms for yourself and CO-workers
- Understand the signs and symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress
- Gain tools to resolve immediate and delayed stress symptoms
- Learn how to establish and maintain a CISD/Stress support team
- Learn how to facilitate a successful defusing and de-briefing
This course will give Dispatchers the information and powerful tools needed to manage stress. It will also show you how to justify, establish and maintain a CISM program. CISM programs are proven to assist in defusing every variety of stress. By managing employee stress, agencies can retain quality employees. Employees also have an improved off-duty life. This combination saves stress leaves and early retirements.
Target Audience: Any 911 Professional, from line level to supervisor.
Class length: 16 hours (2 days)
